I. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me
Given a choice, I'd take the 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights over the 10 Commandments, but evidently not Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore.
This incident brings to mind something I read about Dick Gephardt and his career choice as a young man. For Gephardt, his choice was either to go into public service or the clergy (and incidentally, I've often thought he made the wrong decision). Anyone want to hazard a guess that Chief Justice Moore might have also had that same inclination? And does anyone doubt that choosing the clergy might have been the better, more effective path for him to achieve his goals in life -- assuming his goals aren't to turn the US (or at least Alabama) into a theocracy?
